New Stuff.
Alright, so I could put this page in some sort of orderly format, but… hell nothing else on this site is organized, why start now?
Three photos of my nephew, the adorable Sebastian- born March 31, 1999. Obviously he's cute… he also happens to be damned smart. I'm such a proud uncle.

So, in the past week or so I've met with… umm… let's see, Gov. Jeb Bush, his son George P. Bush, Lt. Gov. Frank Brogan, Miss Florida 2000 Candace Rodatz, former US Senator Connie Mack (R-FL), FSU quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Chris Weinke, two members of the US House of Representatives, CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer… got my picture taken with just about all of them and I will be posting some of those pictures as they get developed.
What's new… okay, in December what was once unthinkable will happen… I'm going to be graduating from the Florida State University. Not a bad little job on my part- I have two majors and I'll be getting them in what amounts to 3 1/2 years. I'm getting degrees in General Communication and Political Science.
Not really sure what's next. I'm looking at a couple different internships. I've done some work in the past doing public relations for various sports franchises and I'd like to go back into that if at all possible, but it's a very competitive field so getting back into it is a challenge.
I suppose I should be pumped that I'm graduating but I'm really not. The fact is I LOVE Florida State and for the past few years I have been having large amounts of fun and just gotten to really enjoy life. I will miss heading over to all the football and baseball games, I'm definitely gonna miss Tallahassee, and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to get over leaving my friends behind… well "leaving behind" may not be the right phrase, they'll be going out to set the world on fire too!
I suppose it's worth pointing out that up until about my senior year in high school I hated Florida State with a passion, being an ardent Miami fan. But then I came up here and absolutely fell in love. Finding someone who went to Florida State and doesn't consider it some of the best times they ever had is about as easy as finding a gay Mormon or a diet that includes chili cheese dogs.
Will there be new friends and new hangouts in the future? Most certainly. But I can't help thinking that no matter what happens these are some of the best years of my life right now… a pretty resounding endorsement considering I'm not even dating anyone at the moment. I keep thinking back to what one of my old friends said though, he has since graduated and moved into the working world. His advice was "DON'T GRADUATE! Change majors the day before they hand you your diploma. You would be crazy to leave there!"
I guess it's not the first or last time I've done something crazy. In spite of it all, part of me knows it's time to move on… my friends will all be moving on now, and I see the little 18 year old kids on campus staring at their maps as they fumble around campus and it occurs to me that, in the words of Austin Powers, "that train has sailed."
Here I go, playing the star again. Here I go, turn the page.
Oh yeah, almost forgot… I got a new car too. See, my baby was lost. I had a 1999 Ford Taurus that I had grown damned attached to, put a good number of miles on driving home to Miami Beach, up to Universal Studios, over to visit my friend Carrie in Naples… basically all over God's creation in. It was parked in the lot here in Tallahassee when a hurricane came through. There was flash flooding, the entire lot was full, short version of the story is my car was not salvageable and had standing water inside. So now I've got a 2000 Ford Focus ZTS… a little smaller but it's got leather, CD, cruise control, 4-doors and fold-down back seats for additional trunk space so I'm happy… still I will always miss my baby. Damn, I got that attached to a car in 1 year, now do you understand why I hate to leave the University? Who knows what I would do if I actually had a serious chick.
On that note, this rant is dedicated "to all the girls I've loved before".
